Here I am out in the Caribbean at work when I stumbled across the web site. Are there any Ancient Mariners out there. If you do not remember me, I am the Joss that came down to the Falklands after our Good freind and buddy Barry passed away. Hope to hear from some of you sometime.

I joined the Broadsword at Chatham in March 1962 going to the Med but flying home in the September. Would like to meet my old friend Eric Chapman from Birmingham who was an LEM with me.

Just found the website.I was on Broadsword as an ERA3 1961 to 63 and as WOMEA(P) 1983 to 85. Is there anyone else who served on both the Broadswords. (Yes I was an Ancient Mariner)My last job in the navy(1990) was to skipper HMSTC Broadsword, a Nicholson 55 at JSATC Gosport.I am sure the membership sec. will be in touch.Fair sailing comrades.MikeM

Here we go again - another question!!!! Can anyone out there please tell me the name of the 'turn' manoeuvre carried after losing a man overboard? Like a figure of eight??? if I remember right, maybe John Connell of someone from then can help - I seem to recollect it was something like a 'Williamson'' turn of something - the old grey matter is going. Regards to Hedge, Sam Morton, Derby, Pete Hobbs, Billy Whizz, Kevin the Can Man, and all from 1979 to 1983 Yours Aye!! Alan

Aye Fellow Servicemen (REME '75 - 9). I got given a (genuine, but 2nd hand) Broadsword Zippo for my birthday today by an aquaintance (my ex's new boyfriend) & I was wondering if anyone knows how many were made, who got them & how (NAAFI or whatever) and I suppose whether anyone would like to swap it for a new one ('coz I feel a bit funny having it, if you know what I mean)? Sincerest regards to all who serve, Tone.

Mind you, saying that I want to swap it does depend rather on what Danny has to say about how he came to posess it & why he wants me to have it (coz it might be sentimental, you know...). Anyway, I'm proud to "own" it - if maybe only for the time being, but I'll find out on Friday if not before & will post accordingly. Respect, ToneF.

Just happened to be playing golf against a team from Hankley Common, Surrey, and who should be in the team but Rear Admiral Sir Peter Anson, Captain of HMS Broadsword 1961-1963. He is fit and well and sends his regards to all his old shipmates. He even told me the secret of driving Broadsword astern down Sliema Creek and picking up the bouys without drowning the bouy jumpers. Sorry to say he won his Golf match. Mike Millis 29 Sept 2003
